Delivering Great Public Places Since 2000
At the City of Seattle, Cathy was responsible for delivering 40 new and upgraded Seattle Parks. She managed annual planning and construction budgets ranging between US $12 to $17 million. She hired and deployed engineers, landscape architects, artists, architects, communications professionals and planners to successfully deliver close to $100 million of well-loved Seattle Parks.
As a public space consultant, Cathy Tuttle has worked for US cities to deliver excellent, actionable public space plans. Some examples include work in 2016, with the Department of Public Health of San Antonio, Texas, to provide a plan to address their growing crisis of pedestrian fatalities in low income neighborhoods of the city. In 2018, she worked for the Department of Public Health and Hawaii Bicycle League to promote Vision Zero, and started a process that resulted in the State of Hawaii Vision Zero ordinance with funding appropriations for road safety. In 2022, Cathy worked on the Downtown Portland Oregon Car Master Plan which was presented at Portland State University that is now being implemented.
Who is Cathy?
Cathy is a Ph.D. in urban design & planning and has a career that spans decades of planning parks, safe streets, and open spaces.
The Netherlands has advanced the culture of great public space, has an enviable record of public space safety, and practical everyday microbility and biking expertise. Cathy is excited to incorporate these threades into developing great public spaces for new communities.
